Our continued success is the result of the skills, dedication and commitment of our team. MTX is a progressive, modern business with a strong leadership team and a clear direction. Below are details of the executive board which oversees the operations at MTX.

Gerald Hartley, Chairman of MTX

Chairman

Gerald has been involved in the construction and building services industry for the whole of his working life and is a fellow of the CIBSE and IHEEM.

In 1983, Gerald set up his own business specialising in the fresh produce market and other demanding applications requiring specialist knowledge and experience.

2002 saw the formation of MTX Contracts Ltd with his elder son David as Co Director and later his younger son Steven with specialist knowledge in construction methods.

MTX has shown significant development and growth year on year since its inception and today has a turnover in excess of £30 million.

In 2016 Gerald stepped down as Managing Director assuming the Chairman’s role and David took over at the helm as MD to continue the development of this exciting business.

Gerald is still active today offering his years of experience whenever needed.

Managing Director

David leads the MTX business as Managing Director, bringing the benefit of over 25 years industry experience and has been instrumental in growing MTX since its creation with Gerald Hartley, who still serves as Chairman on the Board.

David stepped up into Managing Director in 2016 following the role of Commercial Director and provides inspirational leadership as well as strategic direction for the business, supporting sustainable growth through collaborative culture, underpinned with proven technical excellence in product and service.

David has a passion for innovative and alternative construction methods, constantly challenging convention and traditional construction and ultimately ensuring that projects are delivered faster, safer and to an improved quality.

Scott McCaskie

Board Director

Scott is a Director at MTX, where Scott leads the contract delivery teams as well as the service and maintenance operations. Scott began at MTX as a Project Engineer, working on various ripening rooms projects. Having built an impressive career in the construction industry, Scott has been a valued member of the team growing the MTX business since joining in 2002.

Scott brings extensive experience on numerous contract types and procurement methods ranging from traditional, framework, design and build, target cost and open book accounting for a diverse client base, to leading and complementing our contract delivery team. His key focus is in the development and roll out of best practice as well as challenging our supply chain to deliver innovative projects.

Having been responsible for over 100 projects in various disciplines including health, education and commercial, leading MTX projects with a zero defects, 100% safe customer focussed approach, seeing through the delivery of our pre-construction commitments in both construction and operational phases.

Mark Hounslow

Mark Hounslow

Service, Maintenance and Aftercare Manager

Mark has worked from the tools up and fully understands the importance of ‘right first time’ with robust product selection combined with energy performance criteria. His remarkable enthusiasm to grasp and understand the numerous elements associated with mechanical plant design in the ventilation and wet services, makes him an extremely valued team member.

Mark has over 20 years of experience within the service and maintenance industry and caters for the ripening rooms side of the business as well as healthcare projects. His experience from installation and onto preventative planned maintenance has provided an unrivalled insight to plant life cycle significance. Fundamental to plant selection and performance is understanding the integration of the BMS controls package, which ties hand in hand with the ‘cause and effect’ modus operandi.

Daniel Harrad

Daniel Harrad

Project Manager

Daniel has been with MTX for over 10 years. In his time working for MTX he has gained a wealth of knowledge and experience in both the commercial and healthcare sectors. Daniel began his career with MTX in 2006, commencing on various ripening rooms projects initially as a Design Engineer.

Daniel has gained experience from varying levels of involvement in a multitude of projects and regularly takes the project lead after becoming Project Manager in 2011. His previous experience has determined a well-rounded approach to all aspects of the project and ensures smooth client relationships throughout.
