Ripening Room Pressure Fans
Individual, large diameter, reversible axial flow fans are installed in the false ceiling (also accessible via a single access hatch) to supply the necessary air supply and pressure. Each fan is equipped with a venturi inlet to provide maximum efficiency throughout the ripening process. Within our Control System, we are able to offer an auto reverse facility.
Traditionally airflow to ripening rooms has been continuous at a fixed volume irrespective of cooling demand or fruit status. By linking the speed of the fans with cooling demand, and number of pallets into the room, there is a potential to make substantial energy savings both in automatic reduction of air volume and the resultant saving in cooling demand.
Within the RMS, a differential pressure display provides the ripener with an indication of the air pressure drop across the fruit pallet. This information is used to determine the setting of the inverter drive based upon factors such as the type of product packaging and fruit, amount of pallets in the room and the current stage of the ripening process.
